As part of its commitment to promoting a culture of prevention and preparedness for emergency situations, the La Chorrera UMECIT campus conducted a first aid training course taught by officials from the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC).
The workshop was led by instructor Thomas Quintero, accompanied by two volunteers from the institution, who shared knowledge and experience on initial response in emergency situations. Nine administrative staff members from the campus participated, demonstrating a high level of commitment and interest in strengthening their skills to respond promptly and effectively to any eventuality within the university community.
The training was conducted using a theoretical-practical methodology that allowed participants to apply the procedures explained during the session. Topics covered included initial emergency assessment, basic care for injured persons, immobilization techniques, hemorrhage control, critical care, stretcher handling, choking maneuvers, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and other fundamental first aid procedures.
The practical activities strengthened the staff's confidence and responsiveness, preparing them to provide appropriate initial care while awaiting the arrival of specialized emergency services.
This initiative is part of the continuing education program aimed at the administrative staff of UMECIT and had the support of the Human Management Directorate, the Coordination of the La Chorrera Headquarters, led by Mr. Ernesto Martínez, and the Extension Coordination of the headquarters, represented by Mr. Alexis Del Cid, who managed the link with SINAPROC for the realization of the activity.
With these types of actions, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to the ongoing training of its human talent, the strengthening of its Emergency Team, and the construction of a safer, more prepared, and more resilient university environment for the entire academic community.
