Umecit – University in Panama

UMECIT students participated in the International Book Fair

On August 27, 2026, students from different majors from the Panama and La Chorrera campuses of the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- participated in the International Book Fair, held at the ATLAPA Convention Center.

The day was a significant experience for our students, who had the opportunity to approach diverse literary and cultural proposals, explore new content and share in a space dedicated to encountering books, culture and knowledge.

During their visit, the students were able to discover new works, broaden their interests, and enjoy an environment that fosters reading and the exchange of ideas. This experience also created a space for encounter and discovery outside the classroom, enriching their university experience from a cultural perspective.

Participation was part of the activities of the University Welfare Program, through the Folklore and Culture Axis and its Reading Club, initiatives that seek to complement academic training through experiences that promote personal development, participation and learning.

For the University Welfare Program, bringing students closer to cultural and literary spaces contributes to strengthening a comprehensive education, while fostering curiosity, creativity and interest in new forms of knowledge.

Through the Folklore and Culture Axis and its Reading Club, UMECIT continues to generate opportunities for its students to approach literature and diverse cultural expressions, thus strengthening a more enriching, participatory and comprehensive university experience.
