As part of the academic activities of the Banking and Finance and Accounting Seedbeds "Leaders of the New Era", of UMECIT, La Chorrera headquarters, the training "Bio-organic Products Free of Pesticides" was developed, a day aimed at strengthening the integral training of students through knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices, innovation and entrepreneurship.
The activity was led by Professor Daysi Duarte and included the participation of engineer Aiadix González, representative of Bocachi Panama, and engineer Denisse Martínez, representative of Conga Coffee, a Capira-based company dedicated to the production of robusta coffee.
During his presentation, engineer González explained the importance of soil recovery and conservation through the use of organic matter, biofertilizers, and beneficial microorganisms, highlighting how these practices promote agricultural productivity, reduce pesticide use, and contribute to environmental protection. He also shared successful experiences with pineapple, sugarcane, rice, and robusta coffee crops, demonstrating the economic, environmental, and social benefits of regenerative agriculture.
For her part, engineer Denisse Martínez presented the sustainable production model developed by Conga Coffee, highlighting the strategic alliance with Bocachi Panama to strengthen their crops through ecological techniques and the use of biofertilizers. She also offered a tasting of robusta coffee produced using environmentally responsible practices, demonstrating the added value that innovation generates in the agricultural sector.
The day concluded with a dialogue between specialists and students, who exchanged experiences and concerns about sustainability, entrepreneurship and innovation, strengthening a comprehensive vision of the role of finance, accounting and business management in building more responsible development models.
