For almost three months, the UMECIT basketball team participated in the 2026 University City Hoops League.
There were 13 games played, 6 wins and a qualification for the playoffs, figures that summarize a season of competition, demand and learning for our students.
Each encounter allowed the team to measure its performance against other university teams, recognize its strengths, and understand the aspects that need to be consolidated to continue moving forward.
Qualifying for the playoffs represented an important result within this journey and confirmed that there is a sporting base with potential to continue growing.
However, a season is not only evaluated based on the results shown on the scoreboard. It also allows for an assessment of consistency in training, internal communication, adherence to agreements, punctuality, and the responsibility involved in representing UMECIT institutionally.
These lessons will guide preparations for the upcoming cycles. The challenge will be to transform the accumulated experience into a stronger team dynamic, strengthen the sports organization, and ensure that each member understands that belonging to a university team entails commitment both on and off the field.
From University Welfare we recognize the students who took on this representation and the coach who accompanied the team during the championship.
We also appreciate the support of those who were present at the various events and contributed to the development of this participation.
The end of the season is not the final chapter. It's a time to evaluate what has been achieved, learn from the experience, and prepare for the next challenge with greater clarity.
Students interested in participating in this process can find the requirements, training schedules, and registration process on the discipline's official website:
