UMECIT La Chorrera Campus participated in the forum “The Sanitation Route in West Panama: Progress, Challenges and Next Steps”, organized by the Panama Sanitation Program (PSP), a space that allowed to learn firsthand about the progress and challenges of the sanitation projects being developed in the districts of Arraiján and La Chorrera.

This important day was attended by students of the Bachelor's Degrees in Social Work and Human Development and Preschool Education, along with the coordinators of University Extension and Research, who were able to expand their knowledge about the initiatives that seek to improve the sanitary and environmental conditions of the communities of West Panama.

During the meeting, projects related to sanitary sewer networks, wastewater collectors, pumping stations and other sanitation works were discussed, aimed at expanding sanitation coverage, reducing pollution, preventing waterborne diseases and contributing to the sustainable development of the region.

As part of this experience, UMECIT also highlights that a student from the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health at the La Chorrera Campus is currently completing his professional internship within the Panama Sanitation Program, strengthening his skills and applying the knowledge acquired during his university training in a real environment.

Participation in these types of spaces reaffirms UMECIT's commitment to comprehensive, relevant training linked to the needs of the country, providing its students with opportunities to learn about real experiences, strengthen their professional skills and understand the value of interdisciplinary work for the benefit of society and the environment.

From the La Chorrera Campus, UMECIT continues to strengthen university outreach, extension, and active participation in initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and the quality of life of communities.
