Closing ceremony of the Golden Age Program in La Chorrera

UMECIT, La Chorrera branch, celebrated the closing of the third season of the Social Engagement Project «"Golden Age"», an initiative of the Extension Coordination that reaffirms the institutional commitment to social inclusion, lifelong learning and the integral well-being of older adults.

During two months of training, 32 elderly women Residents of the La Chorrera district participated in a comprehensive training program aimed at strengthening their knowledge, skills and active participation in society, also promoting personal empowerment, family integration, entrepreneurship and the continuity of their life projects.

The program was developed under a multidisciplinary approach, thanks to the joint work of teachers, students, professionals, private companies and government institutions that shared knowledge in areas such as psychology, law, computer science and artificial intelligence, marketing, entrepreneurship, environmental education, consumer rights, first aid, business development and gastronomy, among others.

Among the allied organizations and institutions that participated were AMPYME, the Ministry of Environment, ACODECO, SEPRESAC, the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Agriculture and Tourism of West Panama, Distral Panama (Harinas del Istmo), Cobre Panama, SINAPROC and Syscom Store, in addition to the valuable contribution of students and teachers from UMECIT, who led various training and support sessions.

As part of the closing ceremony, the 32 participants received certificates in recognition of their dedication and commitment during the training sessions, seminars, and workshops held throughout the program.

The beneficiaries are part of a program promoted by the Mayor's Office of La Chorrera, an institution with which UMECIT maintains a cooperation agreement to develop high social impact initiatives for the benefit of the community.

One of the most significant results was the identification of new ventures led by the participants, who were incorporated into UMECIT's database of external entrepreneurs, expanding their opportunities for economic growth and strengthening future collaboration networks.

With the Golden Age Program, UMECIT continues to consolidate outreach projects that transform lives, promote active aging and strengthen community participation, projecting this initiative throughout the province of West Panama as a model of inclusive education with social impact.
