The David campus of UMECIT continues to strengthen its commitment to scientific research through the development of the institutional project entitled “Importance of forest patches for forensic entomology”.
This study is led by research professor Tomás Ríos, along with students Domitila Vejarano and Jessy González, from the Bachelor's Degree in Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences, who are developing this research in the city of David.
The project aims to analyze the fundamental role played by forest fragments within urban environments, especially in the diversity and dynamics of insects of forensic interest, providing relevant knowledge for the field of criminalistics and scientific research.
This academic experience contributes significantly to strengthening skills such as critical thinking, the use of scientific methodologies, the development of technical skills, and the commitment to knowledge generation, essential elements in the comprehensive education of students.
Furthermore, the initiative promotes the integration of teaching and research, fostering practice-based learning aligned with research lines in Forensic Science and Criminalistics.
With this type of project, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to the development of research and the support of initiatives that impact both the professional training of its students and the generation of solutions to real problems in society.
