Research results on the student epidemiological profile in the face of COVID-19, presented by UMECIT David

The David campus presented the results of the Institutional Research Project entitled “Epidemiological profile of UMECIT students, blended learning modality at the David campus with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic”, in a session held last Friday, April 17, at the Social Security Fund Agency of Chiriquí.

The study was led by research professor Alfredo Vicente Lammie Graham and included the participation of the Provincial Council of Epidemiology of the Social Security Fund of Chiriquí, as well as academic representatives from UMECIT David, generating a space for knowledge exchange aimed at strengthening education and research in the region.

During the socialization, the main findings of the project were presented, showing that most students had access to relevant information about COVID-19, which allowed them to reach an adequate level of knowledge about the disease, its symptoms and prevention measures.

This project had the active participation of students Luis Abdiel Norths, Yohan Acosta Villarreal, Kamely González Meléndez, Keila Vergara Beitia, Keitlin Yuleisy Araúz Castillo and Cencibeth Sánchez Medina, members of the Registra Salud Seedbed of the Bachelor's Degree in Medical Records and Health Statistics, who contributed significantly to the development of the research.

With these types of initiatives, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to the generation of scientific knowledge and the promotion of academic spaces that contribute to social well-being, strengthening the research culture and the comprehensive training of its students.
