Within the framework of the Cooperation and Research Agreement and as part of its commitment to the generation of scientific knowledge and the strengthening of strategic alliances, UMECIT hosted the installation of the Technical Committee for the Implementation of the Early Warning System (EWS) Panama, an initiative led by the Panamanian Drug Observatory of the National Commission for the Study and Prevention of Drug-Related Crimes.
The event took place at the Fundadores campus and brought together representatives from government institutions, universities, non-governmental organizations, and specialized agencies that comprise the National Drug Network (RENADRO). Participating entities included the Ministry of Health (MINSA), the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMELCF), the Ministry of Public Security (MINSEG), CIIMET, and various academic institutions.
Representing UMECIT were Dr. Gressy Zúñiga and Ms. Alanis Tamayo, who participated in this important technical forum aimed at strengthening the national response to the new dynamics of the drug phenomenon.
The Panama Early Warning System represents a strategic advance for the country, consolidating itself as a key tool for the timely identification of new psychoactive substances, emerging drugs and other threats that may affect public health and citizen security.
