World Water Day forum promotes watershed protection and sustainability

Within the framework of World Water Day, UMECIT developed the forum “World Water Day: protecting watersheds, we protect life”, consolidating itself as a key space for awareness and learning about the sustainable management of one of the most vital resources on the planet.

The event brought together experts from Panama's Ministry of Environment and the Panama Canal Hydrological Program, who shared knowledge on watershed management, highlighting its relationship with planning, sustainable development and poverty reduction.

During the presentations, current challenges were addressed, such as intervention in the Indio River basin, integrating social, environmental and technical perspectives that promoted the active participation of the attendees.

The activity was organized by Mgtr. Krissel Sandoval, professor of the Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management Administration, and included the participation of Mgtr. Emet Herrera, head in charge of Water Security; as well as specialists Licdo. Jorge Lezcano and Licdo. Raimundo Campbell.

This forum not only strengthened students' academic training but also fostered critical thinking, debate, and applied research on water-related issues. The interaction between specialists and participants created an enriching space that reaffirms UMECIT's commitment to environmental sustainability and the development of collective solutions for the protection of watersheds.
