Seminar for the formation of the First Group of Environmental Monitors in West Panama

The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT-, La Chorrera campus, in collaboration with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Environment of Panama West and various environmental foundations, participated in the seminar aimed at the formation of the First Group of Environmental Monitors of the province.

The activity brought together community leaders, representatives of organizations and citizens committed to the protection of the environment from different districts of West Panama, who were selected by an organizing committee made up of UMECIT, environmental foundations and the Regional of the Ministry of Environment.

More than 18 participants took part in this environmental training and education day, receiving knowledge on fundamental topics such as climate change, hydrology, forest management, biodiversity, environmental legislation and the role of the environmental monitor within the communities.

The training sessions were led by specialists and officials from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Environment, who shared technical tools and experiences related to the conservation and protection of natural resources.

Among the attendees were professionals from different areas, organized women, community leaders, and a university professor from UMECIT La Chorrera campus, who will represent the institution as an environmental monitor, thus strengthening the exchange of experiences and collaborative work in favor of the environment.

This seminar represents an important step in strengthening citizen participation and community environmental monitoring in West Panama, promoting social leadership, environmental education, and commitment to sustainable development and ecosystem conservation.
