UMECIT delivers donations to the Juan Pablo II Home thanks to the funds raised at the XIII Health Fair 2025

With a day full of empathy, solidarity and social commitment, UMECIT made the official delivery of the donations acquired thanks to the funds raised during the XIII UMECIT Health Fair 2025, developed under the motto: “Health that Educates, Well-being that Transforms”.

This time, the Juan Pablo II Home, located in the Santa Ana district, was the beneficiary of this noble initiative. This shelter, belonging to the Archdiocese of Panama, provides comprehensive care, food, and dignified treatment to elderly men in situations of abandonment, extreme poverty, and social risk, sustaining itself thanks to the solidarity of institutions and individuals committed to human well-being.

As part of this delivery, UMECIT donated food, physiotherapy equipment and equipment intended for patient care, thus contributing to improving the quality of life and care received by the elderly residents of the home.

The experience was accompanied by students from the Social Work, Psychology and Nursing programs, who shared dynamics, recreational activities and spaces for interaction with the residents, bringing joy, listening, accompaniment and meaningful moments that reflect the true human meaning of university education.

The delivery was made by the Vice-Rector General, Dr. Claudia Marcela Rueda Ossa, together with Dr. Marcela Arévalo, accompanied by the Directorate of Extension and Social Linkage, as well as by the Coordinators of Social Work, Nursing and Psychology, reaffirming UMECIT's commitment to an education that transcends the classrooms and becomes transformative social action.

UMECIT thanks every student, faculty member, partner, and participant of the 2025 Health Fair who made this act of solidarity possible. This collective effort demonstrates that when academia unites with social commitment, real change is generated and lives are transformed.

Because when we educate about health, we transform lives.
