PROPANAMÁ visits UMECIT

Ambassador Carmen Gisela Vergara, administrator of the Authority for the Attraction of Investments and the Promotion of Exports of Panama - PROPANAMÁ, was received by Dr. José Alberto Nieto, rector of the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology - UMECIT -, at the Fundadores headquarters. At the meeting, authorities from the University presented the academic portfolio, the projects in development, some educational platforms and the nature of the virtual and international education of our House of Studies.

For her part, Ambassador Vergara explained the functions of PROPANAMÁ, among which are developing and implementing strategies to attract investment and promote exports that contribute to the economic and social performance of the country. With the help of the institutions of the Board of Directors, the organized private sector and the foreign service, the promotion of our offer of diversified products and services was coordinated, with added value in international markets, as well as the attraction of sustainable investments with social impact, that generate knowledge and technology transfer and at the same time, contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of Panamanians.

The parties agreed to sign a cooperation agreement between PROPANAMÁ and UMECIT with the objective of developing joint activities such as: internship program for University students and training in different areas within the framework of the agreement between the institutions.

Carmen Gisela Vergara, administrator and Lourdes M. Pérez, general secretary, on behalf of PROPANAMÁ. From UMECIT: Santiago Nieto Rueda, Vice Chancellor for projects: Rosa Castañeda, legal adviser; Ramiro Ruedo, director of Virtual Education; Mauricio Cruz, coordinator of Continuing Education and Carlos Eduardo Martínez, coordinator of internationalization.
