As part of its commitment to scientific research and the promotion of solutions to problems that impact communities, UMECIT Chitré Campus held a coordination meeting with the students responsible for the application of the information collection instruments of the institutional research project entitled: “Environmental and health education in the control of the Aedes aegypti mosquito in the township of La Arena, province of Herrera”.
The initiative seeks to generate evidence that will strengthen prevention and control strategies for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the main transmitter of diseases such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya, by analyzing the impact of environmental and health education in the community.
The research includes a sample of 366 residents of the La Arena district, with the purpose of evaluating knowledge, practices and perceptions related to the prevention of vector proliferation and determining how educational processes can contribute to improving control actions.
During the coordination session, the students received specialized training on the correct application of surveys and other research instruments, guaranteeing the quality, reliability and accuracy of the information that will be collected in the field.
The application of the instruments will begin on June 29 in different sectors of the La Arena district, so the community is called upon to provide its collaboration and support to this important research, whose results will contribute to the design of intervention strategies aimed at collective well-being.
Through this project, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to training professionals capable of generating knowledge with social impact, promoting public health and sustainable development through education and scientific research.
