Psychology Week 2026: a day of reflection and learning

The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) opened Psychology Week 2026 with an enriching academic day held on June 13, in commemoration of Psychologist's Day, under the motto "Psychological roots: understanding the origin of human well-being.".

The activity brought together students, teachers, graduates and professionals in the field, who participated in a space designed to promote the updating of knowledge, the analysis of topics of professional relevance and the strengthening of the skills necessary to respond to the current challenges of Psychology.

The day featured the outstanding participation of Dr. Gynna Spence, who presented the lecture "The family as the root of psychological development", highlighting the influence of the family environment in the construction of people's emotional and social well-being.

Likewise, Mgter. Carlyn Smith developed the presentation “Emotional wounds and their impact on adult life”, addressing the importance of recognizing and understanding the emotional experiences that influence the integral development of individuals.

As part of the program, the panel “The Psychologist’s Profile: Challenges and Competencies in the Current Context” was held, featuring prominent graduates of the Psychology program at UMECIT. During the academic exchange, Master's degree holder Benjamín Arturo Vergara spoke about the key competencies of psychologists today; Master's degree holder Amir Alan Plicet Gutiérrez reflected on the role of psychologists in society; and Master's degree holder América Martez highlighted the importance of professional ethics in the practice of the discipline.

The university also appreciates the valuable participation of Mr. Daniel Vázquez as a guest panelist, as well as the commitment and dedication of Mr. Emmanuel Mendieta in coordinating this important academic space.

This first activity of Psychology Week 2026 reaffirms UMECIT's commitment to the comprehensive training of professionals capable of contributing to human well-being through an ethical, sensitive practice based on scientific knowledge.
