Strengthening ties with the productive sector during a visit to the La Victoria Sugar Mill

The Santiago branch, through the Branch Coordination and the Extension Coordination, made an institutional visit to the Central Azucarero La Victoria SA, one of the most important sugar mills and main sources of employment in the province of Veraguas.

During the day, the coordinators held a meeting with engineer Luis Herrera, the company's general manager, in which a dialogue was developed aimed at identifying opportunities for collaboration between academia and the productive sector.

As a result of this meeting, academic and professional internship opportunities were opened up for students of careers such as the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health and the Technical Degree in Electrical Engineering, strengthening practical training and job placement.

Likewise, both parties expressed their interest in moving forward with joint initiatives that promote knowledge transfer, the strengthening of human talent, and regional development.

This type of approach reinforces UMECIT's commitment to the effective link between academia and the productive sector, generating opportunities that positively impact the employability and comprehensive training of its students.
