Student Commitment in Action: Reforestation in La Yeguada
The environmental commitment goes beyond the classrooms at UMECIT. Our students led an exemplary day of reforestation in the La Yeguada forest reserve, making a difference in the conservation of one of Panama's natural treasures.
The devastation caused by a forest fire in La Yeguada did not go unnoticed by our future professionals. Accompanied by experts and teachers, the students took an active role in restoring the affected area.
The decision to use Pinus Caribae, a native species, for reforestation was strategic. It ensures adaptability and contributes to the restoration of ecosystem services, another example of UMECIT's responsible approach.
UMECIT is proud to encourage its students' active commitment to environmental conservation. This journey not only strengthened his theoretical understanding, but also left a lasting mark on La Yeguada.
This field experience broadened horizons and prepared our students for the challenges and opportunities of managing protected areas and restoring damaged ecosystems.
At UMECIT, we are committed to training environmental leaders and responsible citizens!
