On Saturday, February 22, 2025, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- Chitré Campus signed an important cooperation agreement with the Herrera Health Region. This agreement is part of the National Health Plan 2016-2025 and aims to promote health with social participation through education and social marketing.
Dr. Hilario Correa, Provincial Director of Health of Herrera, and Mgter. Anielka U. de Samaniego, Rector of UMECIT, were in charge of formalizing this commitment that includes the development of a strategic plan based on the RISA campaign (Laugh, Inspire, Savor and Get Active). This initiative seeks to promote a Safe and healthy summer, addressing the prevention of smoking, drugs and alcohol, as well as promoting a healthy eating. In addition, the Pink and Blue Ribbon Campaign and the Mental Health, along with regular health checks and other related activities.
For UMECIT, being a focal point in the province of Herrera to promote healthy lifestyles reinforces its commitment to quality education with social relevance. During the signing, students of the bachelor's degrees in Physical education, Medical Records and Criminalistics, together with community members, shared their knowledge and worked together for a better quality of life.
