“Live, Take Care and Enjoy in Health”: UMECIT brings wellness and prevention to different communities in the country

Under the motto "Live, Take Care and Enjoy in Health", the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- reaffirms its commitment to social projection and the well-being of communities through the XIV UMECIT Health Fair 2026, an initiative that transcends the classrooms to turn knowledge into service and support.

The Health Fair will have a special dynamic: each venue will develop its day according to the characteristics and needs of its beneficiary community, making each meeting a particular experience of care, prevention, education and solidarity.

The activities will begin on October 10 in Chiriquí-David, with a workshop for the Association of People with Disabilities and Mobility Problems in Chiriquí. Subsequently, on October 17, workshops will be held in Herrera-Chitré, Veraguas-Santiago, Panamá Oeste-Chorrera, and Panamá-Centro, benefiting the Down Syndrome Children's Center Foundation, Hogar Santa Isabel, Fundación Una Luz en el Camino, and Niña Iggi Yela, respectively.

This diversity of scenarios reflects one of the main strengths of the Health Fair: bringing the university closer to concrete realities and responding from academia to the needs of different groups and communities.

Health that becomes service

Through these events, students, teachers, collaborators and allies of UMECIT participate in spaces for health promotion, prevention and guidance, putting their knowledge and abilities at the service of the beneficiaries.

Depending on the venue and the established schedule, the activities may include services and actions such as blood pressure checks, glucose tests, body mass index measurement, vaccination, nutritional and psychological guidance, prevention and self-care talks, health assessments, and recreational and cultural activities, among other initiatives.

The program also incorporates the participation of public institutions, private companies, social organizations, entrepreneurs and other allies, strengthening collaborative work and the building of networks for the well-being of communities.

Beyond the services offered, the Fair represents an opportunity for students from different disciplines to take their knowledge to real-world contexts, develop professional skills, and understand, from experience, the importance of practicing their profession with responsibility, sensitivity, and social commitment.

One fair, different communities, one same purpose

The XIV UMECIT Health Fair 2026 is based on a fundamental premise: each community has particular needs and deserves answers that recognize its reality.

Therefore, each venue puts its own stamp on the day, maintaining as a common thread the promotion of a culture of prevention, self-care and well-being.

Thus, the Health Fair becomes a space where education, health, solidarity and social commitment converge, strengthening the link between UMECIT and the communities with which it works.

With the motto "Live, Take Care and Enjoy in Health", the university invites everyone to experience these days as spaces for meeting and learning, but also as an opportunity to remember that taking care of health is a shared responsibility and that education can become a powerful tool to transform realities.
