As part of its commitment to social development and the well-being of communities, UMECIT La Chorrera Campus made a donation to the Jerusalem Throne of Jehovah III Foundation, located in the township of Burunga, district of Arraiján, beneficiary of the 2025 Health Fair, developed under the motto "Health that educates, well-being that transforms".
The donation was made possible thanks to funds raised during the 2025 Health Fair, with the participation of students, faculty, administrative staff, sponsors, and the general public. This initiative reflects the university community's commitment to actions that extend beyond the classroom and generate a positive impact on the surrounding community.
The Jerusalem Throne of Jehovah III Foundation carries out important social work through its children's dining hall, which provides support to more than 60 boys and girls from Burunga and surrounding areas, facilitating access to food and other basic resources.
The handover was marked by moments of joy and gratitude. The donation was received by Pastor María de Santiago, president of the Foundation, along with members of the organization and the children who would benefit, who enthusiastically shared in this day of solidarity.
Representing UMECIT were Dr. Greysi Zúñiga, Director of Accreditation; Dr. Ernesto Martínez, Coordinator of the La Chorrera Campus; Mr. Osvaldo Blackman, Research Coordinator; Ms. Amelia Sarco, Professor of Substantive Functions; and Mr. Alexis Del Cid, Extension Coordinator, who led the presentation and was in charge of the 2025 Health Fair.
This action reaffirms UMECIT's vision of promoting an education committed to the needs of society. The integration of education, health, and social responsibility allows university initiatives to become opportunities to support those who need it most.
Through actions like this, UMECIT La Chorrera continues to strengthen its ties with communities and promote a culture of solidarity, service and participation, especially for the benefit of children.
Because serving is also educating. Because sharing is also transforming. And because every contribution can become hope.
UMECIT La Chorrera Campus thus reaffirms its commitment to promoting initiatives that generate well-being, strengthen communities and contribute to building a future with greater opportunities.
