A day to reflect on the impact of our consumption decisions

As part of its commitment to sustainability and environmental protection, UMECIT, Chitré campus, held the virtual training session “Transforming our daily habits” on June 10, 2026, within the framework of the Recycling Campaign aimed at the entire university community.

The activity featured the participation of the distinguished Eng. Isibel Solís, a biologist and recycling specialist, who shared knowledge and experiences about the importance of understanding the environmental impact of the products we consume and the decisions we make in our daily lives.

During her presentation, the expert emphasized that everyone has the capacity to become an agent of change through responsible actions that contribute to reducing waste generation and promoting more sustainable practices. She also stressed the need to reflect on the history of polluting products and to take an active role in building a more environmentally conscious culture.

The workshop provided participants with practical and easy-to-apply tools for incorporating sustainable habits into different areas of life, from the home to academic and community spaces. It also highlighted how consumption choices can positively transform the environment and turn everyday waste into valuable resources.

With initiatives like this, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive education of its students, teachers and collaborators, promoting a culture of environmental responsibility that contributes to the well-being of present and future generations.
