UMECIT enhances academic creativity with hands-on activities at the Fab Lab
As part of its educational innovation and digital transformation strategy, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) promoted the development of academic and practical activities in the Fab Lab, aimed at students of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, belonging to the degrees in Marketing and Advertising and in Banking and Finance of the day, Saturday and night shifts.
During the day, participants developed practical projects focused on creating prototypes and content applied to their subjects, such as label design, product prototypes, interactive advertising posters with QR codes, and visual tools such as Daily Expressions. These activities were carried out in direct collaboration with the Fab Lab's technical staff, allowing students to take their proposals from the conceptual stage to the final product.
As a result of this practical experience, the students materialized their designs using state-of-the-art technological equipment available at the UMECIT Fab Lab, applying techniques of printing on adhesive vinyl and die-cutting in foam board. This initiative reaffirms UMECIT's commitment to educational innovation, digital transformation, and hands-on learning, connecting classroom training with the application of digital manufacturing technologies.
