Chitré branch commemorates Lawyer's Day with a distinguished Conference

As part of the celebrations for Lawyer's Day, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT-, Chitré Campus, held the Dinner Conference “The phases of the Mixed Civil Proceedings by Hearing”, taught by the renowned Panamanian jurist and professor, Dr. Boris Barrios González.

The meeting, held at the Hotel Versalles in Chitré, brought together a large group of students, professors, graduates, and legal professionals. The day focused on analyzing the impact of Law 402 of 2023, the legislation that established the new Code of Civil Procedure in Panama. During his presentation, Dr. Barrios discussed the phases of this modern model, which transforms legal practice by moving away from the written system.

New challenges for the legal profession

The speaker, renowned for his extensive output of legal literature, emphasized that the transition to this procedural model demands a high level of technical skill from legal professionals. Key pillars highlighted during the evening included:

  • Mastery of orality: Requirement for fluency and precision in the development of hearings.
  • Immediate argument: Real-time responsiveness and reasoning.
  • Strategic litigation: Application of advanced techniques for procedural practice.

The activity concluded with an interactive question and answer session, reaffirming UMECIT's commitment to academic strengthening and top-level teaching in the region.
