UMECIT is present at the launch of the Country Vision 2050

In a momentous event, the National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep) launched the "Country Vision 2050." Under the motto "The Panama we want", this proposal seeks to consolidate democratic governance, social inclusion, sustainable productivity and economic openness, establishing strategic lines to promote the country's productive and prosperous sectors.

The event, which took place on Monday, February 5, had the active participation of CONEP, of SENACYT, who have carried out an exhaustive investigation and update report for the Country Vision 2050. The president of CONEP, Temístocles Rosas, had the honor of opening the event, highlighting the importance of thinking long term and overcoming short-term plans.

During the ceremony, the document was officially presented to the candidates for the presidency of the Republic of Panama. This initiative, led by the private sector, seeks to contribute to the development of the country and provide a guide for equitable economic growth.

 Dr. José Alberto Nieto, rector of UMECIT and president of the Association of Private Universities of Panama (AUPPA), Magister Juan Pablo Cardozo, rector and Regional Director of the University of the Istmo and Vice President of AUPPA participated in the event, where the importance of quality education.

Temístocles Rosas emphasized the importance of an education that not only provides access, but also provides technical knowledge, soft skills and competencies necessary to face current challenges. "We must evolve and break with the current educational system," stated the president of Conep.

The Country Vision 2050 is presented as a public policy instrument that seeks to guide actions and commitments in the short, medium and long term. Based on the pillars of inclusion, productivity with sustainability, and economic competition and openness, the vision focuses on six key productive sectors: logistics, financial, tourism, agriculture, industrial and the creative industries.

This vision not only represents a long-term project, but also a useful tool to start working immediately, establishing concrete objectives and tasks to achieve the desired Panama in the year 2050. The proposal reflects Panama's determination to move towards a future of social equity, economic development and opportunities for all.
