UMECIT delivers donations to the Ciudad del Niño Foundation

The Extension and Psychology Coordinations of the La Chorrera Campus of the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology - UMECIT - carried out, with the support of the medical records and health statistics groups, the donation of school supplies to the Fundación Ciudad of the child.
This Foundation, which since 2019 has received professional practice students through an agreement, is a non-profit organization committed to the promotion, defense and exercise of the rights of children and adolescents in vulnerable situations, providing them with development opportunities and supporting their families so that they can adequately carry out the upbringing and education of their children.
Ciudad del Niño emerged in the 1960s at the initiative of a group of people coordinated by Fr. José María Aguirre, SJ, with the aim of providing shelter, upbringing and education to children who lived in conditions of poverty and family abandonment.
On May 11, 1968, with the sponsorship and impulse of Mrs. Petita Saa de Robles, First Lady of the Republic, it opened its doors to welcome 78 children, in the facilities built on land donated by Mrs. María Icaza, in the La Chorrera district.
With these actions, UMECIT seeks to promote the development of the University Extension work and the Cyberhumanist Educational Model involving both teachers, students, and administrators.
