The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- reaffirmed its commitment to university extension and social responsibility by actively participating in the Second Workshop on Dissemination of Drug Policies, organized by the National Commission for the Study and Prevention of Drug-Related Crimes (CONAPRED).
As a member of the Academic Chapter on Drugs, UMECIT strengthens its contribution to the analysis, research, and development of proposals aimed at addressing one of today's most complex social problems. Its participation in this important forum responds to the need to promote the updating and coordination of national strategies that allow for a comprehensive approach to the challenges related to illicit substance use, drug trafficking, and other associated phenomena.
During the day, representatives from various sectors exchanged knowledge and experiences on current public policies, highlighting the importance of inter-institutional cooperation to strengthen prevention, care and control mechanisms.
From academia, UMECIT promotes actions that contribute to linking scientific knowledge with the formulation and execution of public policies aimed at social welfare, citizen security and the sustainable development of the country.
With this participation, the University reaffirms its role as an agent of social transformation, promoting initiatives that favor the construction of sustainable solutions and the strengthening of a regulatory framework that contributes to the integral development of Panama.
