UMECIT Commemorates its 18 years in the company of graduates

Nearly 200 professionals from different programs of our House of Studies, gathered to celebrate the V Annual Meeting of Graduates, in the company of our Rector, José Alberto Nieto, the General Vice Rector, Claudia Marcela Rueda and authorities, special guests and administrators. The event opened with words of welcome from the rector, to then give way to a series of conferences in which the topic of "Digital Economy in the Transformation of Society's Lifestyles" was addressed. Professionals of the stature of Joaquín Victoria, representative of IPANDETEC, spoke of opportunities and new business alternatives in the Digital Economy and Stephanie Pragnell, representing PRO-PANAMÁ, addressed the topic of Panama as a commercial hub and the digital age. 

Likewise, Santiago Nieto, Vice Chancellor of Projects, made reference to the vision of the University in terms of new projects and the relationship of the graduate. Little by little, the hours passed, between greetings, hugs and demonstrations of appreciation and affection among our graduates, thus demonstrating that UMECIT is not just a House of Studies, but a space where bonds of friendship are cultivated that last for years. Life experiences were expressed by Licda. Yelitza González, director of the Gender and Labor Office of Mitradel, a graduate of UMECIT and designated spokesperson for the graduates for this magical night. González, thanked the opportunities received, which allowed him to develop as a professional, despite an uncertain outlook. 

For her part, Dr. Juddy Valderrama Moreno, a graduate of the Doctorate in Educational Sciences with an emphasis on Research, Evaluation and Formulation of Educational Projects and awarded the 2022 Vestigium Award, in the academic/investigative category, expressed words full of emotion and gratitude. for the support received to carry out their studies and obtain a doctorate. This event dressed up as a gala, by awarding the transcendent graduates selected for this year, by the Umecista community. Among them Gino Osellame Rosillo, graduate of the Specialization in Higher Education and awarded in the academic-investigative category; Juddy Valderrama Moreno, graduate of the Doctorate in Educational Sciences, with an emphasis on Research, Evaluation and Formulation of Educational Projects and awarded in the academic-investigative category; Luz Dary Andrade Fierro, graduate of the Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources, awarded in the Social-Community category and Stephany Castillo, graduate of the Bachelor of Occupational Safety and Health, awarded in the Resilience in Difficult Times category. 

Teachers, students, administrators and graduates participated in the Annual Meeting of Graduates of the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology UMECIT. 

It was the opportunity to listen to Dr. José Alberto Nieto Rojas, rector of the University, who spoke about the regional impact that UMECIT has when graduating outstanding students in the academic and scientific field.

It was a great night of meetings, exchange of ideas and emotional testimonials from successful graduates.

Teachers, students, administrators and graduates participated in the Annual Meeting of Graduates of the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology UMECIT. 

It was the opportunity to listen to Dr. José Alberto Nieto Rojas, rector of the University, who spoke about the regional impact that UMECIT has when graduating outstanding students in the academic and scientific field.

“It is a very important event, it is a meeting where the University grants this space every year so that the academic community chooses outstanding graduates in different fields and we also take advantage to create a genuine, solid and authentic community of Umecista graduates. We have graduates who are already working and contributing to the development of both this country and other countries such as Colombia," Said the rector moments before the ceremony.

During the gala, four Vestigium 2022 awards were awarded for academic and research excellence and for social and community contributions.  

These awards were given to:

Gino Osellame Rosillo graduated from the Specialization in Higher Education, Juddy Valderrama Moreno graduated as a Doctor of Educational Sciences with an emphasis in Research, Evaluation and Formulation of Educational Projects, Luz Dary Andrade Fierro graduated with a Master's in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources and Stephany Castillo graduated from the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health. 

“The idea is to be able to strengthen those ties with our graduates and understand that the link with the University does not end when they graduate but, on the contrary, they become even closer in order to fight with our contributions for a better society and for the general well-being of our countries” Added the rector Nieto Rojas.

The meeting of graduates was attended by renowned figures from the political, cultural and business fields, all graduates of this house of studies. 

Joaquín Vásquez, social and political communicator graduated from the UMECIT Faculty of Law and Political Sciences, highlighted the importance that this House of Studies has had in his professional and academic life. 

“UMECIT has filled a void in academic life over the years, graduating thousands of professionals who, in turn, have made great contributions to the country. The University achieved that balance with technology from the beginning, it was already many steps ahead of the pandemic in terms of virtual education; the investment in the virtual educational platform was far ahead of other study centers”, Said the social activist.
«I am very proud to have obtained a degree in Law and Political Science, I hope in a few days to obtain that suitability from the Supreme Court of Justice and to be able to practice my profession. I am proud of my alma mater from which we will not disassociate ourselves, on the contrary, we hope to continue stimulating other young people and professionals who want and aspire to a second career to continue standing out and contributing to society," The radio commentator and political scientist also finished.

The evening also served as the setting for the panel «Digital economy in the transformation of society's lifestyles». The participants had the opportunity to listen to the speakers Joaquín Victoria from the Panamanian Institute of Law and New Technologies (IPANDETEC), as well as Stephanie Pragnell from PRO-PANAMÁ with the theme “Panama as a commercial hub and the digital age.

Deputy Alina González Córdoba, president of the Commission for Education, Culture and Sports of the National Assembly, also a graduate of UMECIT, was present during the event.  

González stressed that she will always be grateful to all the UMECIT teaching staff and stressed that for her having studied marked a before and after in her personal and professional life. "Today and always I will say present to what was my home for several years and from wherever I am I will always be there to support them in everything that means educational excellence," González ended by saying. 

The gala closed with the award and each one of the honored students, where the valuable lessons that university life left them were recognized, lessons that today they transmit to others through knowledge and values that seek to make this a better society. prepared to face an increasingly changing world.

The V Annual Meeting of Umecit Graduates culminated with a raffle, where two of the graduates were awarded scholarships to continue their studies, closing with a great dinner, where everyone had the opportunity to recall past experiences, and yearn for future experiences in a new meeting.
