To mark Folklore Day, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) held a cultural event at its campuses in Santiago, La Chorrera, Panama East and Panama, creating spaces to bring the university community closer to diverse expressions that are part of our cultural identity.

The program included folkloric performances, music, singing, traditional drumming, entrepreneurial projects, and the distribution of gifts, in accordance with the activities held at each location. As part of the celebration, students, faculty, and staff were also invited to wear their traditional folk attire, incorporating this expression of identity into the daily life of the university.

In Santiago, the day included the participation of entrepreneurs, singing, drumming, and the integration of students in different cultural activities.

In Panama East and Panama, presentations were held by the UMECIT Folkloric Group, accompanied by the participation of entrepreneurs and the delivery of gifts to members of the university community.

Meanwhile, in La Chorrera, the celebration included cultural presentations and special touches prepared for those who participated in the event.

Beyond a commemorative date, this initiative allowed for moments of encounter, recognition of our roots, and keeping alive expressions that are part of Panamanian culture, strengthening the sense of identity and belonging within the university community.

The activity was developed by the University Welfare Program, from the Folklore and Culture Axis and its Art Club, with the support of the Extension Directorate, through the Entrepreneurship Coordination, which collaborated in the management and linking of the participating entrepreneurs in the different locations.
