The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT), Chitré Campus, reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, research and scientific dissemination through its participation in the Second Congress of Research Seedbeds, where it presented 13 posters corresponding to different areas of training.

The meeting brought together student researchers from various UMECIT campuses and became a space to share projects developed from classrooms and research spaces, highlighting the methodological rigor, innovation and the ability of young people to propose solutions to problems in their environment.

As a result of this outstanding participation, two projects from the Chitré Campus were recognized within the general awards of the congress, reaching third and eighth place.

Third place was obtained by Darío Gonzáles, a student of Medical Records, with the research project “Drinking water system for rural communities using cañazas – Herrera Province”.

The proposal addresses a problem of relevance to rural communities and demonstrates the potential of student research to generate innovative alternatives to specific needs of the territory.

Meanwhile, eighth place was awarded to Maura Mitre, a student of the Bachelor of Law and Political Science, for her research “Legal framework that regulates the supply of drinking water in the district of Chitré”.

This project brings a legal perspective to the analysis of a fundamental need for communities and demonstrates the diversity of approaches from which students can contribute to the generation of knowledge.

UMECIT Chitré's participation in the congress also reflects the support and commitment of the faculty advisors, who play a fundamental role in the students' research training process.

For UMECIT authorities, these results represent a source of pride and, at the same time, reaffirm the institutional commitment to fostering critical thinking, research and knowledge production from the earliest stages of professional training.

With the presentation of 13 projects and the recognition of two research projects among the awarded works, UMECIT Chitré continues to strengthen the research culture and contribute to the scientific and academic development of the Azuero region and Panama.
