UMECIT, Chitré Campus, reaffirmed its commitment to social development, research and the internationalization of higher education through its participation in a strategic discussion with the new Commissioner of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Panama., the Denisse Velásquez Galarza, Esq.
The meeting provided a space for dialogue on the main challenges and opportunities currently presented by migration management, as well as strengthening cooperation links between international organizations and the Panamanian university sector.
During the event, the role of higher education institutions in generating knowledge, research, and raising awareness about migration phenomena was highlighted, as well as in developing proposals that contribute to promoting orderly, safe, and regular migration.
The UMECIT educational community was invited to actively participate in this exchange space, which allowed them to learn firsthand about different perspectives on the migratory reality and the challenges that society faces in this area.
For UMECIT Chitré, this participation represents an opportunity to continue showcasing the institution's academic work and strengthening its connection with issues related to human rights, international cooperation, and global policies.
With initiatives like this, UMECIT continues to strengthen its external engagement and internationalization agenda, creating spaces that connect the university community with national and international actors and that contribute to the development of higher education committed to the challenges of society.
UMECIT is present in the spaces of dialogue, cooperation and internationalization that contribute to building new perspectives for the future.
