Workshop strengthens skills in taking and analyzing fingerprints and palm prints

With the aim of strengthening the technical and practical skills of future forensic investigation professionals, students of the Bachelor's Degree in Criminalistics and Forensic Science participated in the Fingerprint and Palm Print Taking Workshop, led by Professor Abel Guevara.

During the academic session, participants acquired fundamental knowledge about fingerprinting and palm print analysis, essential disciplines for human identification processes in forensic, investigative, and security fields. The workshop fostered an understanding of the importance of fingerprints and palm prints as reliable, permanent, and widely used methods for identifying individuals.

Through theoretical and practical activities, students applied standardized techniques for the correct acquisition, recording, and analysis of biometric prints, developing skills related to observation, classification, and identification of characteristic patterns. They also learned about factors that can influence the quality of the prints, such as moisture, dryness, or natural wear and tear of the skin.

The methodology applied favored experiential learning and active participation of the students, who demonstrated a high level of commitment and interest during each of the sessions.

This academic activity contributes significantly to strengthening students' professional skills, reaffirming the importance of promoting practical training spaces that complement theoretical knowledge and prepare them to face the challenges of investigative, forensic, and security contexts.
