Solidarity and social commitment mark a day of community support in honor of Saint John the Baptist
As part of the social engagement and community practice activities, the university community of UMECIT Chitré Campus carried out a significant day of food collection and delivery within the framework of the Novena of Saint John the Baptist, patron saint of the district of Chitré.
This initiative brought together students, teachers, and administrative staff, who joined forces to collect essential products that were later delivered to the Catholic Church, with the purpose of benefiting families in vulnerable situations.
The activity reflects the institutional commitment to the values of solidarity, empathy and social responsibility, promoting concrete actions that positively impact the community and strengthen the comprehensive education of students.
Beyond the classroom, UMECIT fosters experiences that allow future professionals to develop a deep human sensitivity and understand the importance of service to others. Through University Extension and community service, the university promotes a culture of civic engagement and commitment to the needs of the population.
This day of solidarity, carried out during a period of reflection and fraternity such as the Novena of Saint John the Baptist, reaffirms the institutional mission of training professionals committed to social transformation and collective well-being.
With actions like this, UMECIT continues to consolidate itself as an agent of change that promotes ethical and human values, contributing to the construction of a more just, inclusive and supportive society.
