UMECIT Psychology Week 2023 was an event full of learning and celebration that took place in the month of June, coinciding with the psychologist's day in Panama. UMECIT is distinguished by its cheerful and dynamic spirit in each of its events, and Psychology Week was no exception.
On this occasion, the senior students, belonging to the groups that entered in 2020, took on the role of idea managers and organizers of the week. They demonstrated their ability and passion for Psychology and their vocation for service.
During the week, various seminars, workshops and social spaces, such as film forums, were held with the aim of providing learning to students and the entire university community in Panama and La Chorrera. The topics covered were varied and included psychologist ethics, importance of mental health, emotional intelligence, psychological first aid, affective responsibility, anxiety in young people, intrusive thoughts, DSM V and research, ADHD, teamwork, among others.
In addition, the first inter-university working group on the drug problem was held, with the participation of six universities. The objective was to exchange ideas and jointly investigate this issue, joining efforts for the welfare of human beings.
It also had a presence on UMECIT's radio, addressing topics of interest such as Burnout Syndrome, ADHD and how to go to a psychologist for the first time. We invite you to visit our space on YouTube, where you can find these programs.
Understanding that psychology is not limited to auditoriums, extra-mural activities were carried out, such as visits to schools, the Prince of Peace Bilingual Educational Center, the Minesota State School and communities in La Chorrera. In addition, the message of the importance of taking care of our mental health was taken to crowded places in the country, such as the Metromall and Panama's subway stations.
The closing of the UMECIT 2023 Psychology Week took place on June 24 at both campuses. During this event, the university community was informed of the results of the self-evaluation report of the Bachelor's Degree in General Psychology, which obtained a compliance of 99.6%. This achievement was received with enthusiasm by the students. In addition, the Extension Department presented the recycling campaign, aligned with the sustainable development objectives.
