UMECIT Folkloric Group present at the 2nd International Congress of Research Seedbeds

The UMECIT Folkloric Group was part of the cultural program of the II International Congress of Research Seedbeds, bringing to the stage a sample of our folkloric expressions and adding art and culture to this important university space.

The presentation consisted of choreographic arrangements of different expressions of Panamanian folklore, including Cumbia “Dame tu querer”, El Punto Colectivo, El Tinajero, La Espuela and Cumbia atravesada “Pájaro Amarillo”.

These works were developed under the direction of instructors María González, Abdiel Pineda and Lizzetti Ortega, who accompany the process of training and artistic preparation of the members.

Participation in this event represents a new opportunity for the group to share its work and represent UMECIT through art and culture. It also forms part of the growth process the group has experienced throughout 2026, with the addition of students from various disciplines and a greater presence in different venues.

Each performance is also a learning space for our students, who strengthen their skills, acquire new experiences, and find in dance a form of expression, participation, and institutional representation.

Through the University Welfare Program, specifically the Folklore and Culture axis, we continue to promote the development of spaces that integrate art and culture into the university experience.

The participation of the UMECIT Folkloric Group in the 2nd International Congress of Research Seedbeds thus represents an opportunity to continue showcasing the talent of our students and keeping our traditions present in new settings.
