As part of the commemoration of International Dance Day, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) developed the Piscodanza Workshop, an experience focused on movement, expression and body exploration as tools for connection and personal discovery.

The activity was led by Imer Herrar, a presenter from the Perfecto Diferente Foundation, and was held in person at the La Chorrera campus, with additional participation in a hybrid format. The workshop was aimed at the entire university community and included the participation of faculty, staff, and students, among them a significant representation from the Early Childhood Education program.

Piscodanza's approach seeks to develop a unique identity based on five fundamental pillars: Presence, Intuition, Sensation, Body, and Origin, represented in the word PISCO. These elements are articulated through movement, expression, and psychology, leading to an experience that invites a conscious connection with the body and with different forms of expression.

During the workshop, participants explored movement from a different perspective, recognizing the body as a space for expression, connection, and discovery. Through various activities, the experience fostered participation and created a learning environment where art and movement became means to explore new forms of communication and personal connection.

This initiative was carried out through the University Welfare Program, from the Folklore and Culture Axis and its Art Club, as part of the actions aimed at enriching the university experience beyond the classroom.

For the University Welfare Program, these types of activities represent an opportunity to complement academic training with cultural and artistic experiences that promote participation, creativity, and the integral development of the university community.

Through the Folklore and Culture Axis and its Art Club, UMECIT continues to promote spaces for encountering art and culture, strengthening a university life in which learning, expression and creativity are also protagonists.
