Month of Celebration of the Homeland

We begin the month of November and with it the honor of being able to honor our Panamanian homeland for its history, its people, its tenacity, its struggle, culture and traditions. We will celebrate important dates for our nation, which have outlined a horizon of struggles, achievements, and successes that are part of our history.

On November 3, Panama celebrates 119 years of being a Republic. On this date, it obtains the separation of Colombia and begins a new stage of its republican history.

On November 4 we celebrate the symbols of the homeland (flag, shield, anthem), which we must honor as sacred emblems of our nation.

On November 5 we remember what is considered the consolidation of the separation of Colombia in colonense territory.

On November 10, where we remember this date of 1821, in which the heroic cry of Independence of La Villa de los Santos was given, by the figure of Rufina Alfaro, when she incited the popular uprising against the Spanish colonial government and that unleashed a series of shouts in several cities of the territory, culminating with the independence of Panama from Spain on November 28 of the same year. On this historic day, the emancipation process that concluded with 300 years of colonial life is also remembered.

The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology - UMECIT- greets the Panamanians in these important festivities and invites them to celebrate with patriotism, always honoring our country with responsibility and civility.
