Students from the Criminalistics I course (Saturday modality) of the Faculty of Law and Forensic Sciences carried out a day of delivering baskets for newborns at the Maternity Ward of the Santo Tomás Hospital.

The activity was developed under the guidance of teachers Francisco Wellington and Carlos González, who accompanied the students during the different scheduled days, promoting a learning experience that integrated academic training with community service.

During the visit, the students shared with mothers and families celebrating the arrival of a new member, handing out baby baskets as a gesture of solidarity, empathy and support during one of the most significant moments of their lives.

Beyond the delivery of supplies, the initiative helped strengthen values such as social sensitivity, responsibility, respect for human dignity, and commitment to the well-being of the community in future criminalists, pillars that complement the technical and scientific training they receive in the classroom.

These experiences, which are part of UMECIT's educational model and are part of the Extension and Social Engagement activities, promote a comprehensive education aimed at preparing professionals capable of responding with excellence, ethics, and a human touch to the needs of society.
