As part of the activities of UMECIT Book Club, Students from different majors participated in a guided tour of the Ernesto J. Castillero R. National Library., in an initiative developed jointly by the UMECIT Library and the University Welfare Department.
The activity provided participants with the opportunity to learn about the services, collections, and spaces that make up one of the leading institutions dedicated to preserving Panama's documentary heritage. During the tour, they visited the Newspaper Archive, which houses historical publications of great value to the national memory, as well as the audiovisual collection, which brings together representative materials from different eras.
Beyond the tour itself, the experience strengthened students' interest in reading, research, and critical thinking, bringing them closer to spaces that promote the pursuit of knowledge and the appreciation of the country's history and culture.
With these types of initiatives, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to a comprehensive education that transcends the classroom, fostering the development of academic, cultural and civic competencies, in accordance with the principles of its Educational Model and the strengthening of a university community committed to lifelong learning.
