Talent, creativity and student audiovisual production were the stars of the grand finale of the second edition of the short film competition “The Art of Weaving Stories 2026”.
The day marked the end of a process in which students had the opportunity to develop their audiovisual proposals, have preparation spaces, and put their knowledge into practice to create stories from different perspectives.
As part of the support, the participants received workshops and guidance for the development of their short films, with the support of Andrés Álveo, who helped to strengthen their tools for the production and construction of their proposals.
During the grand final, the participating short films were screened, allowing attendees to learn about the different proposals and subsequently participate in the public vote.
The award given by the judging panel went to the short film “Panama opens its eyes and breaks the silence”, made by Mélida Guerra and Susan Santo.
The jury was made up of professionals linked to the field of audiovisual production:
Guillermo Jiménez Spang
Anette Ayala Marín
Mr. Miguel I. González
We thank the judges for their participation, professional judgment, and willingness to support this initiative and value the work developed by the students.
Additionally, the following short films were recognized through public voting:
“The Noise of Silence”, by Ana Gómez, Adriel Maldonado, José Cerrud and Stefany Alveo.
“Without opportunities: the reality of unemployment”, by Suhail Puerta, Jathzzury Piper, Sharith Escalante and Jassiel Barría.
The grand finale also featured the participation of producer Juan Pablo Coronel, who shared with the students his extensive experience in the audiovisual industry and the knowledge he has acquired throughout his professional career.
Their participation created a space for learning and getting closer to professional practice for students of Audiovisual Production, Graphic Design and other related areas, who were able to learn firsthand about the experiences, challenges and transformations of the industry.
The second edition of “The Art of Weaving Stories” reaffirms the commitment of the University Welfare Program, through the Film Club, and the Media and Communication Coordination to the creation of spaces that promote the talent, creativity and expression of our students through audiovisual language.
