The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- commemorated Sports Coach Day 2026 with a day that combined academic training, practical experiences and sports activities.
The meeting brought together students, teachers, authorities and members of the university community to recognize the work of those who, through sports training, contribute to the integral development of people and promote values such as discipline, leadership, perseverance and teamwork.
The day began with welcoming remarks from Maritza Pérez, coordinator of the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences.
As part of the academic program, the presentation was developed “Technical Direction and Sports Management”, led by Master Jaime de la Pava, technical director of UMECIT FC, who shared knowledge and experiences on planning, sports management and team management.
Subsequently, María Isabel Fuentes and Giorgio Paolo Famiglietti Moreno, representatives of the Panamanian Football League (LPF), participated in the presentation. “Management and Administration in Professional Football”, in which they addressed aspects related to administration and management within this discipline.
The program also put learning into practice. Diana Carolina Rojer, a student in the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Personal Training, gave a demonstration of Freestyle Football, while in the gym, a Zumba SMART FIT activity focused on physical conditioning and the promotion of healthy habits took place.
One of the highlights was the Training Circuit and Sports Stations, conducted on the field. Participants toured stations dedicated to recovery, injury prevention, strength, speed, possession, transitions, tactics, cognitive activation, load management, and refereeing.
With this initiative, the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences at UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to training that integrates knowledge and practice and prepares future professionals to respond to the challenges of the sports field.
