Strengthening professional skills through specialized Pilates practice

As part of UMECIT's commitment to comprehensive training and experiential learning, students of the Sports Fitness subject of the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Personal Training carried out the academic closing day with a specialized practice in the Pilates y Más studio – Reformer Classes.

 

This activity allowed future professionals to transfer theoretical knowledge to the real context of practice, strengthening their skills in the design, execution and evaluation of training sessions focused on muscle toning, aerobic capacity and strengthening of the musculoskeletal system.

The Sports Fitness subject covers fundamental content related to the promotion of healthy lifestyles and physical conditioning, including:

  • Compilation of toning exercises.
  • Muscle toning and health.
  • The Pilates method.
  • Types of Pilates.
  • Role and skills of the Pilates instructor.

During the practical session, the students experienced working with Reformer equipment, identifying the importance of postural control, breathing, core stability and the correct execution of movements, essential elements for the safe and effective prescription of physical exercise.

The activity also aimed to strengthen professional skills related to:

  • Knowledge for planning training sessions aimed at muscle toning.
  • The development of skills for selecting appropriate musical genres for each phase of the training session.
  • The ability to design and select exercises that are in accordance with the characteristics, needs, and specific conditions of different population groups.

These types of academic experiences demonstrate the importance of the link between the university and professional settings, allowing students to consolidate meaningful learning through the practical application of innovative methodologies in the field of fitness and health.

From the Faculty of Humanities, these initiatives reaffirm the institutional commitment to quality education, focused on the development of professional skills, pedagogical innovation and the training of graduates capable of responding to the current demands of professional practice in the field of physical activity, personal training and health promotion.
