Students from the UMECIT Santiago headquarters carry out important observation and analysis work focused on the occupational health and safety of the professional soccer players of the UMECIT FC team. This activity, an integral part of their training, combines the principles of teaching, extension and research.
The process begins with a thorough investigation of the common risks associated with playing professional football, from musculoskeletal injuries to environmental and ergonomic conditions. Once identified, a detailed observation plan is developed to directly record the working conditions and practices of the footballers during training and matches.
Students, under the guidance of their teacher, attend UMECIT FC meetings, focusing on previously identified risks. With meticulous recording of observations, data is analyzed to identify patterns and trends, prioritizing risks based on severity and frequency.
Finally, a report is prepared that summarizes the findings and offers specific recommendations to improve the occupational safety and health of football players. This report not only contributes to the well-being of players, but also enriches knowledge and practice in the field of occupational safety in professional sports.
