As part of the subject Tourism Business Administration II, Students enrolled in the Bilingual Tourism Bachelor's program at UMECIT's La Chorrera campus completed a field internship at the Radisson Riviera Panama Hotel, an exclusive five-star resort. The activity, organized under the guidance of Professor Alexis Del Cid, aimed to complement their academic training with hands-on experience at a high-end establishment.
This academic tour had been planned since the beginning of the year, during the development of the subject Tourism Business Administration I, as part of a strategy to strengthen practical learning and bring students closer to the reality of the hotel industry.
Upon arrival, the delegation was greeted by the hotel's reception team, who extended a warm welcome and began a guided tour of the modern facilities. During the visit, the students learned about the administrative, logistical, and operational processes that support the functioning of a luxury hotel, as well as the quality standards that distinguish these types of establishments.
One of the highlights of the day was the presentation given by Jaclin Sánchez, the hotel's Events and Corporate Groups Manager, who shared her professional experience and explained the organization's business model. During her presentation, she emphasized that the hotel offers an exclusive concept based on à la carte cuisine, personalized service, and high standards of comfort, differentiating itself from the "all-inclusive" system.
He also explained the logistical and administrative planning required for the efficient management of its 92 rooms and the residential apartment complex, highlighting the importance of resource coordination, teamwork, and service excellence to ensure a memorable experience for every guest.
The field experience allowed students to understand the differences between various hotel types and gain firsthand knowledge of the challenges involved in managing a five-star hotel. Furthermore, the experience strengthened essential skills for their future careers, such as leadership, planning, innovation, and customer service.
With these types of activities, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to quality academic training, promoting experiences that integrate theory and practice to prepare professionals capable of responding to the demands of the national and international tourism sector.
