Psychology students strengthen their training through an academic tour with a social focus

As part of the training experiences focused on practical learning and strengthening social awareness, students of the Bachelor of Psychology at UMECIT made an academic tour to the community of Burunga, visiting the Buenos Pasos Movement Foundation.

The activity was developed within the framework of the subject Developmental Psychology I, under the guidance of Professor Jill Manuel, allowing students to complement the knowledge acquired in the classroom through direct contact with community contexts and social realities that enrich their professional training.

During the day, participants had the opportunity to interact with community members and learn firsthand about the foundation's work supporting individuals and families in need of guidance and social support. This experience helped strengthen fundamental skills for the practice of psychology, such as empathy, observation, active listening, and understanding human development processes in real-world contexts.

The tour also incorporated a significant altruistic component, promoting values such as solidarity, social responsibility, and commitment to the well-being of communities among future professionals. Beyond an academic activity, the experience allowed for reflection on the transformative role of psychology and the importance of building a human-centered professional practice.

Through initiatives like this, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to a comprehensive education that combines academic excellence with the development of human values, preparing professionals capable of understanding the needs of their environment and contributing positively to society.

The University congratulates the participating students for their enthusiasm, willingness, and commitment during this significant day of learning and community service.
