«English Language: Passport to the World»: a day to celebrate learning English at UMECIT

The English degree program at UMECIT will celebrate the English Week 2026, an academic, cultural and recreational activity that seeks to promote the use of the English language as a global communication tool, strengthening linguistic skills, creativity and student participation.

Schedule of activities

10:00 am – 10:15 am.

Opening Ceremony

  • Welcome by the Master of Ceremonies.
  • Religious invocation.
  • Opening remarks by university authorities.
  • Official presentation of the activity's slogan.

10:15 am – 10:45 am.

Cultural Exhibition: "Cultural Passport"«

Each group will represent an English-speaking country through a themed station that will include:

  • Interesting facts about the country.
  • Samples of traditional foods.
  • Main tourist attractions.
  • Typical expressions of the language.
  • Challenges and interactive activities for visitors.

Participants will receive a symbolic passport to collect stamps as they visit the different stations.

10:45 am – 11:15 am.

English Talent Showcase

Students will demonstrate their linguistic and artistic skills through:

  • Recitation of poems.
  • Storytelling and narration.
  • Dramatic monologues.
  • Interpretation of songs in English.
  • Short dramatizations.
  • Cultural presentations.

11:15 am – 11:45 am.

"English Challenge" competition«

Interactive team activities aimed at strengthening communication skills in English.

Guess the Word

  • Participants will have to describe vocabulary words without mentioning them directly.
  • The teammates must guess the correct word in the shortest time possible.

11:45 am – 12:10 pm.

«Around the World» Competition»

Rotation through learning stations and rapid challenges:

Station 1: Pronunciation Challenge

  • Tongue twisters.
  • Complex sounds of the English language.

Station 2: Relate the Idiom

  • Matching idiomatic expressions with their correct meaning.

Station 3: Sentence Builder

  • Forming correct sentences from jumbled words.

Station 4: Virtual Mode

  • Digital learning and competition activities.

12:15 pm – 12:30 pm.

Closing Ceremony

  • Reflection on the importance of English in today's world.
  • Group photograph.
  • Closing message.

Special activity: "Passport to the World"«

Throughout the day, each participant will be able to collect stamps in their passport for:

  • Communicate in English.
  • Actively participate in the activities.
  • Visit the cultural stations.
  • Answer the challenges and questions correctly.

At the end of the event, the person who collects the most stamps will receive a special prize awarded by UMECIT.
