Readers' Meeting strengthens the social and cultural commitment of UMECIT Chitré

UMECIT, Chitré Campus, held a special event as part of its Second Readers' Meeting, which featured the participation of renowned national novelist Rose Marie Tapia.

The meeting focused on a discussion about his work "A Cry from Silence: The Dark Abyss of Bullying," a space in which the members of the Readers' Meeting were able to approach literature as a tool for reflection, critical thinking, and social transformation.

During the day, the author addressed aspects related to human values, peaceful coexistence and ethics present in her work, generating an enriching dialogue with the participants.

Likewise, the attendees had the opportunity to exchange ideas about the challenges of current Panamanian literature and reflect on the educational content of the novel, recognizing the value of reading as a way to understand different realities and promote a more conscious society.

Reading, culture and reflection

From University Welfare, this initiative seeks to strengthen the university community's connection to culture, promote reading habits, and create spaces for dialogue and reflection, in accordance with UMECIT's educational model.

The realization of this Second Readers' Meeting reaffirms the importance of creating scenarios where literature transcends the pages of a book and becomes a meeting point to share ideas, question realities and build new learning.

For UMECIT Chitré Campus, promoting these types of activities also represents a way to strengthen the comprehensive education of its university community, recognizing that education is not limited to the classroom, but is also enriched by art, culture, reading, and the exchange of experiences.
