Understanding Environmental Law through Innovation and Sustainability

Students of the Bachelor of Law and Political Science at UMECIT, La Chorrera Campus, developed the educational activity "Knowing Environmental Law through Innovation and Sustainability", an initiative aimed at strengthening environmental awareness and promoting knowledge of the rights and duties related to the protection of the environment.

Through educational booths, information displays, talks and dialogue spaces, students shared knowledge about Environmental Law, conservation of natural resources, sustainability and civic responsibility in the face of the environmental challenges facing our society.

The activity also included trivia and educational games, allowing students and teachers to actively participate and test their knowledge. As an incentive and symbol of commitment to conservation, saplings of native Panamanian trees, donated by the Ministry of the Environment, were distributed.

This experience allowed future legal professionals to take their legal knowledge beyond the classroom and transform it into concrete actions. The initiative reaffirms that Environmental Law is not limited to the study of laws and regulations, but also involves fostering a culture of prevention, conservation, sustainability, and social responsibility.

The day was led by Professor María Averola, with the support of the Extension Coordination of the La Chorrera Headquarters, which managed the donation of seedlings by the Ministry of Environment, Regional of Panama West, from its nursery located in Huilé, Arraiján district.
