Students of the Bachelor's Degree in Medical Records and Health Statistics at UMECIT, La Chorrera campus, commemorated Statistician's Day with an academic day that featured research, creativity and teamwork.

The activity, led by Prof. Yaremis Rodríguez, with the support of the Saturday teachers, brought together first, second and third year students, who presented research projects, exhibitions and stands related to their professional training and the importance of statistics in the field of health.

As part of the day, each group had the opportunity to present and defend their research before a judging panel, demonstrating their knowledge, communication skills, leadership, and commitment to their career.

The jury was composed of Osvaldo Blackman, Research Coordinator; Mgtr. Alexis Del Cid, Extension Coordinator, both from the La Chorrera headquarters; and Licda. Maryulys Atencio, Coordinator of Student Affairs for Panama Center of the Ministry of Education.

This experience strengthened the University's core functions: teaching, research, outreach, and community engagement, demonstrating how knowledge can be generated from the classroom and contribute to the transformation of the environment.

Beyond a celebration, the day represented an opportunity for students to recognize that behind every piece of data there is a human reality and that every number can contribute to making better decisions for the benefit of health and society.

With initiatives like this, UMECIT continues to promote a comprehensive education that connects learning with research and with the real needs of society.
