UMECIT, La Chorrera campus, continues to strengthen the practical training of its students through learning experiences in real-world settings. This time, students from the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health completed a field internship at the Cemento Progreso plant, located in the district of La Chorrera.

The purpose of the academic visit was to learn firsthand about the logistics and production processes and the Occupational Health and Safety System implemented by the company, allowing participants to relate the knowledge acquired in the classroom to the practices developed in the industrial sector.

Accompanied by teacher Milisa Madrid, the students observed the strategies applied for the identification, evaluation and control of occupational risks, highlighting the importance of engineering controls, the proper use of personal protective equipment and the strengthening of a culture of prevention as fundamental pillars to protect the health and safety of workers.

The day also allowed for the collection of information for the development of a research project on occupational diseases, with an emphasis on the prevention of silicosis, integrating teaching, research and linkage with the productive sector.

With these types of initiatives, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to an education based on experience, applied research and the training of highly skilled professionals to promote safe, healthy and sustainable work environments.
