UMECIT and the Public Prosecutor's Office of West Panama hold a discussion on ethics, justice and public service

Within the framework of the collaboration agreement between the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- and the Public Ministry of Panama West, the discussion entitled "The role of the Public Ministry in the administration of justice and the ethics of public service: Challenges for new professionals of Law and Political Science" was carried out.

The event featured the participation of Ms. Patricia Herrera Torres, Senior Prosecutor of Panama West, and Ms. Anabelis Jaén Herrera, Circuit Prosecutor and Coordinator of the Theft Section, who shared valuable insights with the attendees on the substantive functions of the Public Ministry, the ethical principles of public service, and the role of legal professionals in strengthening the rule of law.

During the meeting, the speakers emphasized the importance of ethical commitment, social responsibility, and transparency in the practice of law, highlighting that justice requires honest public servants and professionals committed to the well-being of citizens.

This activity is part of the accreditation process for the Bachelor's Degree in Law and Political Science at UMECIT, contributing to the strengthening of the axes of social projection, linkage with the environment and continuing education.

Dr. Gressy Zúñiga, Director of Accreditation, presented the progress and achievements of the academic program, inviting teachers, students and graduates to actively participate in the interest groups that will receive the national and international peer evaluators at the end of November.

The discussion brought together graduates and teachers from the La Chorrera campus, who valued the space as an opportunity for updating and reflecting on the ethical and legal challenges facing the country.

With initiatives like this, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to training ethical, critical and responsible professionals, capable of generating a positive impact on society from the field of Law and Political Science.
